Do not buy this camera! [...] January 6, 2007 Reviewer:  Ann (AL)  See all my reviews >

Do not buy this camera. It is cheaply made from thin plastic. 6 weeks after I bought it, lens shifted inside and image became obstructed, also spring inside slot where you place memory card broke. [...] The replacement did not work when it arrived (looked like a refurbished product anyway). [...]

good pictures, battery sucker July 25, 2007 Reviewer:  jaimeo "jaimeo" (orlando)  See all my reviews >

This camera eats batteries, but the quality of the photos are good. Not recommended for video clips, the camera kept dying in the middle of important moments.

WHO NEEDS TO SPEND $300 ON A DIGITAL CAMCORDER? May 25, 2006 Reviewer:  HAPPY SHOPPER "ANDY CHATTON" (GRANADA HILLS, CA)  See all my reviews >

Unless you are a professional who's looking for that prestigous heavy $300 camcorder with that nifty brand name, you've come to the right place for this no-nonsense digital camcorder!

MANY OF THESE REVIEWS I'VE READ ARE TRYING TO COMPARE THIS CAMCORDER TO THOSE MUCH, MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS! THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. NOBODY IN BUSINESS CAN THROW $300 WORTH OF QUALITY OPTICS, ELECTRONICS, ETC INTO A CAMERA FOR [this price]. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

THANKFULLY THOUGH, AIPTEK,WHO I HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY HEARD OF BEFORE GOING INTO TARGET, HAS FOUND A WAY TO MANUFACTURE AN EXCELLENT CAMERA WITH GOOD QUALITY RESULTS FOR AN AWESOME PRICE!

That's precisely what I required for my personal needs. I had to take some digital shots of a new truck to email overseas right away. I went in looking for a $75 digital camera and found this digital camcorder for a little more. Advertised for FAR LESS than I expected. I had to read all the features then look back at the model and price three or four times before I believed the price tag was correct.

ALL THE REVIEWS SEEM TO REPEAT THE GOOD POINTS AND BAD POINTS. YOU PROBABLY DON'T NEED TO READ ANOTHER LIST SUCH AS THIS... JUST KNOW FOR THE QUALITY, FEATURES, EASE OF USE, AND APPEAL OF THIS LITTLE CAMERA, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG... JUST CAN'T!

FINAL WORDS: JUST GO PICK ONE UP AND BE HAPPY WITH IT LIKE I AM! ITS THAT SIMPLE! THANK YOURSELF FOR READING THIS AND TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK CLOSER AT YOUR POTENTIAL PURCHASE BEFORE YOU BUY... YOU SMART SHOPPER YOU!

an OK camera November 17, 2006 Reviewer:  Michelle "Michelle" (winter park, fl United States)  See all my reviews >

The pictures from this camera can be questionable. If you're outdoors, they are fine. Takes the fuzziest pictures indoors. Takes pretty good videos.

DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!! August 7, 2006 Reviewer:  Unhappy buyer (Fort Worth, texas)  See all my reviews >

I bought this camcorder, great price, great features, doesn't requires expensive batteries, everything sounds GREAT. When I started recording, the picture was clear, sound was nice also. BUT...... when you connected to the TV to watch your memories, the picture is HORRIBLE, not clear. When you're gonna review the pictures you took, the image is not clear either. In fact...Do not buy it!!!

Some annoyances but overall good value April 16, 2006 Reviewer:  Not a GE employee (USA)  See all my reviews >

This camera hits a nice spot on the price-performance scale. It's small, incredibly light and has a respectable feature set. You should be aware of a few things, however:

* Camera powers off automatically when the LCD is closed. Hence you have to have the display open and lit up in order to record movies or to connect the camera to your computer.

* Battery can only be charged in the (supplied) external charger; you can't charge it while it's in the camera.

* Camera cannot be powered off USB; it needs to have a battery in it. Hence I recommend you buy a media reader for your computer to read the SD cards directly rather than connecting the camera to the computer.

* Camera records in .ASF format, which is not simple to play back on Macintosh computers.

* Low-light performance is not good. If you need night shot capability, look elsewhere.

The NP-60 lithium-ion battery used by this camera is an industry standard size that can be found online very cheap. Buy a few, they are tiny and light and will fit in your camera bag nicely.

The sensor is quite high resolution. The main limitation on image quality is due to the optics. For this reason, I wouldn't use this as my primary still camera (it's OK for quick snaps). It's a good little camera for home movies and reasonable for snapshots. Best results will be obtained outdoors in strong light, at ranges > 6 feet.

Pretty Good... June 28, 2007 Reviewer:  Brooke (Lytle, TX, USA)  See all my reviews >

My parents bought us this camera last Christmas and I loved it! Yeah, sometimes the picture is a little blurry if you move a little when taking it, but I think this is a good camera. I do like the rechargable lithium ion battery, which does last for a long time! I am not fond of the regular batteries like AA, or AAA, because they never seem to last long in the cameras.

I actually dropped this camera on the tile floor and it broke, so I registerd for another one for our wedding shower! I really like this camera and would reccommend it!

I love this little camera September 8, 2006 Reviewer:  happy bride "erin f" (durand MI)  See all my reviews >

we received this camera for my bridal shower and I absolutely love it. Yes you might have to buy a memory card for it but you dont have to buy tapes to record on. Also if you have a DVD burner on your computer you can burn a DVD. And when you dont like something you recorded you just delete it. When i hooked mine up on my TV it was a beautiful picture. no fuzziness. I have people wondering where i got it and they were shocked at how much it was. i actually got one person to buy it already and they love it also. the only downfall to it is that there is no light for when you are recording. so nightime recording. but it takes beautiful pictures and records beautifly. love it love.

Not Bad 4 A Crazy Cam October 21, 2006 Reviewer:  DLS "DLS" (NY)  See all my reviews >

I just bought one of these to use as a webcam and for shooting video in situations where it would not be a good idea to use an expensive camcorder. These inexpensive camcorders will probably never shoot great video indoors, unless you have a LOT of good lighting. The camera works great outside in natural light and the stabilizer helps out with smooth video. This would be a great camcorder for a beginner and for web videos. You get what you pay for, but this little guy isn't bad for the price. If you are looking to shoot high quality video, the Sony HC3 is awesome, but it is definitely not in the Aiptek price range. Also, I would stay away from JVC.
